Calming Kit of Activity Pebbles Summary

*MADE TO ORDER*

This Calming Kit contains 15 different pebbles listing calming activities that will help to teach children about emotional regulation.  When children have difficulty in processing some emotions, they become overwhelmed and very often do not know how to cope or move forward.  This is a way to help them navigate through these emotions by choosing a calming technique.

Should there be something specific you use within your home, please feel free to let me know and I can create one (or more) for you and swop for different activities.

They are perfect for all children including neurodivergent children, older teens or adults. Many with autism/ADHD sometimes have negative feelings that they cannot quite pinpoint, so these pebbles help in finding ways to dispel those feelings. They can take out one, try it and if it doesn’t work, take another, while gradually learning how to self regulate.

Please note these are made to order, so kindly allow a few extra days for delivery, thank you.

This kit can also be used for outside the home if you take some activities in a bag (and remove the pebbles such as 'rest in bed') then they have something to choose from while being out and about in case of emergencies.

Used regularly, the pebbles could help with:

*Recognising their own needs
*Learning self-regulation techniques in a safe and positive way
*Confidence in managing feelings
*Understanding that all emotions are ok
*Relieving anxiety and stress
*Behavioural concerns.

SCHOOLS/THERAPISTS: I am happy to create a specialised bag of activity pebbles that would be suited to your setting.

The 15 activities are: talk to someone, ask for a hug, roll a ball under your feet, draw your emotions, read a book, listen to music, sip a drink slowly, push against a wall, do some stretches, squeeze something, rest in bed, walk around, draw a picture, play a game and calm breathing.

A choice of bags are included (including one with a window as some autistic children are not comfortable with surprises/not being able to see what they will remove from a bag).

The stones (made from recycled glass) are designed by myself using a decoupage technique. As with anything hand-made/recycled, there may be very slight variations on each product - the beauty of unique items.

UKCA/CE certified for over 3 year olds.

Sealed with toy safety varnish and must not be submerged in water.
Keep away from young children and babies.
Mindfulness cards not included.

Amazing idea.
I love this little bag of ideas for children and know these would have helped me when I was young. Many autistic children get negative thoughts and by having a bag they can go to to try different techniques is so helpful. They are visual and there is no room for error, so could be immediately calming in itself.

Reflective Regulation
I asked Susan to create a set for my older daughter and her setting to be able to use to support regulation when out in the community. Managing big feelings and anxieties are a really big part of my daughters daily life and she is very much a visual learner so needs that physical touch of something just to ground her to what s going on in that moment for her. These pebbles were perfect for this as the physical feel of them in her hand worked to bring her focus back and she enjoyed carrying out the strategies on each pebble. A really lovely resource for anyone that struggles to emotionally regulate whatever your age.

Reply From Nurture Gnomes:
I'm so pleased that these are working for your daughter. I actually had a conversation the other day about whether pictures were better for older students or just the wording - my belief is both, because pictures with visual learners work so much better, especially in moments of anxiety. Thank you for leaving your review on how they have supported with managing feelings too - that's really helpful.
